Coronavirus is becoming a nation-wide problem in the US and casino operators are looking to prevent its proliferation. Most endangered areas are casinos with high traffic of visitors and operators are taking necessary steps to lower the risk. Atlantic City is one of the problematic areas and local casinos have already unveiled steps for suppression…
One of the leading operators, MGM Resorts International, which has control over Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, issued the statement:
“We are proactively communicating with our employees on the guidance from the CDC regarding prevention. We have enhanced our cleaning protocols that include placing hand sanitizer dispensing station in high-traffic areas, reinforcing proactive cleaning and increasing the frequency of disinfectant procedures. We continue to follow the CDC’s guidelines and are closely monitoring for updates.”
Executive Vice President, and General Manager for the Golden Nugget Atlantic City, Tom Pohlman observed:
“We have taken proactive measures to help minimize customer concerns including, frequently sanitizing surfaces in high-traffic areas, adding hand sanitizers throughout the casino, encouraging good hygiene practices amongst our staff, requiring employees who have traveled to certain areas to stay home for 21 days before returning to work and following all other CDC recommended guidelines.”
All casino operators are committed to reducing the risk of Covid-19 disease. Boardwalk Hall General Manager, Jim McDonald stated, that his staff is working overtime to keep the property clean. He added:
“Our cleaning processes are very thorough; we’ll continue to do that as well as additional rounds of cleaning.”
According to McDonald’s words, about 30,000 people will visit the facility over the weekend and all of them should “follow directions from the experts and implement their recommendations”.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has also delivered the statement on March 5:
“We have enhanced our cleaning protocols that include placing additional hand sanitizer dispensing stations in high-traffic areas, reinforcing proactive cleaning and increasing the frequency of disinfectant procedures.”
The coronavirus has spread all over America and casinos are not excluded. New York and New Jersey’s Port Authority while New York Governor Cuomo may also be infected.
Atlantic City is not the only gambling region undertaking necessary measures in fighting the coronavirus. Las Vegas has started enhanced cleaning up to prevent the problem. Most of Vegas casinos have already added hand sanitizers at casino tables, with staff are washing down tables and bars on a regular basis.

This virus has already proliferated, and I am afraid of potential problems…Each of us should be careful until the situation calms down…
Why would you subject yourself to a virus while losing money that you may need in near future when it gets real. Ya think the casino’s are losing money? I think not. Just wait til the next online gambling earnings turn out to be. what I would say to the owners and share holders is Shut the casino’s down and reap the online benifits ….do your part to slow the spread down.
