Delaware Sports Betting Continues to Struggle in February

Delaware Sports Betting Continues to Struggle in February

Although the US state of Delaware has posted quite strong January iGaming figures, the legal sports betting market has gone through some major struggles during the month of February.

The newly published figures are showing that licensed operators in this state managed to generate quite small revenue of only $22.152 for the whole month, which is obviously a huge setback.

Going Through Struggles

This revenue is much lower than the $1.4 million that was reported by the Delaware lottery in January of this year. The stakes have been also dropping from $11.9 million to $8.49 by the end of the month of February.

Punters reported $8.46 million in winnings during the month of February, which is a huge decrease compared to $10.3 million that this place reported in January. Also, there was a decrease in the number of wagers placed in the first two months of 2019, from 227.328 to 193.537.

Delaware Park was the most popular sports betting venue for the gamblers from the state of Delaware since it reported $5.32 million worth of bets placed in there.

But, the venue actually went through a loss in earnings, because it had to pay out $5.34 million in winnings…

…so the loss was $28.750 in the month of February.

On the other hand, Dover Downs was most definitely the most successful venue if we are talking about sports betting revenue figures for February.

The place managed to generate $34.460 during February and took a total of $1.71 million in the placed bets amount.

Harrington Raceway reported revenue of $16.442 from $1.46 million worth of bets.

More Delaware Numbers

So, if we’re looking at the numbers for the whole calendar year to date, a total sports betting revenue in Delaware, for now, stands at $1.46 million. It came from $20.4 million worth in wagers…

…while punters have won $18.75 million.

At the same time, the Delaware Lottery has actually also reported a month-on-month drop when it comes to the online revenue for the month of February. It fell from $279.541 in January to $274.692 in February.

This decline came although the consumer spent more this month, with a total of $9.02 million significantly up on $7.42 million in January. Nevertheless, punters won even more in February and took home a total of $8.77 million, which is a nice increase comparing to $7.17 million in the month of January.

Delaware Park actually took over Dover Downs to become the most successful online gambling destination when it comes to both the revenue and the total value of the placed wagers.

This venue actually posted revenue of $115.518 with the amount wagered that reached $5.07 million during the month…

…while the total of $4.97 million in winnings was paid out.

Dover Downs reported revenue of $103.452 from a $2.70 million in a total amount of placed wagers, while Harrington Raceway had revenue of $55.721 from $1.25 million wagered.
