FanDuel Appoints Lainie Cooney as New Senior HR

FanDuel Group, a world-known sports betting and fantasy sports operator from New Jersey, announced that the company will appoint a new chief people officer.

It is revealed that the new role will be given to Lainie Cooney and that she will be working at the FanDuel office in Los Angeles, California.

She will be in charge of developing and executing the company’s global human resources strategy…

…and also, she will be reporting to FanDuel CEO, Matt King.

More About Ms. Cooney

The new senior HR, Cooney, has spent over 25 years in the HR business before ing FanDuel, which is actually owned by Paddy Power Betfair.

She was actively deg and executing human resource strategies in various businesses and organizations for more than two decades.

Cooney worked as a chief human resources officer at Blue Apron, a famous meal-kit delivery service from the US. Her job was to lead a huge, nationwide HR team that consisted of 60 people and she also had the responsibility for all aspects of the people strategy.

Before all of that, she was a chief human resources officer at specialty food distributor, DPI Specialty Foods…

…while also spending some time at the State Street Investment Management Services where she worked as vice-president of human resources.

FanDuel Keeps Growing

The company is currently on the quest to expanding its opportunities in the fast-growing regulated sports betting market of the United States…

…so this new appointment comes as quite a logical move.

Together with its partner, Meadowlands Racetrack, during the month of February FanDuel ranked as the top sports betting operator in New Jersey. The company ed for $8.1 million of the $12.7 million that was wagered in the state during that same month.

“Our experience operating the top sportsbook in New Jersey at the Meadowlands Racetrack will serve us well as we enter Philadelphia and compete for customers in an area with some of the most ionate and knowledgeable sports fans,” King added.

In March, the fantasy sports operator also started to offer its sports betting services in the state of Pennsylvania by partnering up with Boyd Gaming’s Valley Forge Casino Resort near Philadelphia.

More Business Deals

As part of their US expansion strategy, the operator signed a multi-state and multi-platform deal with Fresh8, delivering automated marketing technology.

The two companies will work together on various marketing projects across various platforms in the US, before focusing anything on FanDuel’s main market in New Jersey.

According to the agreement, Fresh8’s technology will help the brand save time and costs of production and distribution of their sports betting content.
