Hesse To Break From State Treaty on Gambling

The German state of Hesse has announced a possibility to develop its own gambling regulations in case the government fails to deliver a federal framework by the end of 2019. According to the report, the ruling coalition could even part with the State Treaty on Gambling, allowing it to work on an entirely new regulatory model.

Other States To Develop New Models

One of the states with a liberal regime when it comes to gambling, Schleswig-Holstein, has announced a possible partnership with Nordrhein-Westphalen, Rheinland-Pfalz and Hesse, whose revision of the Treaty could allow operators to initiate full-scale betting services in the following period.

The state of Hesse is also interested in transferring regulatory oversight of slot machines to ’s federal states.
