Intralot Enters Canadian Market Via British Columbia Lottery Deal

One of the biggest global gaming and lottery solutions companies, Intralot S.A., officially announced that it signed a new business contract with British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

By partnering up with the lottery operator that is owned by the Government of British Columbia…

…this well-known Greek company will enter the Canadian market.

The company’s US subsidiary, Intralot Inc, signed a 5-year contract and it can be extended after that period for another 6 years.

According to the deal, Intralot will provide BCLC’s central system with its brand-new, innovative platform called, Lotos X.

It is a lottery solution that is enriched with Intralot’s lottery terminals, along with its progressive camera-based technology, software products, and maintenance services.

The estimated cost of a contract between Intralot and British Columbia Lottery is around 25.5 million Canadian dollars…

…and is included in the BCLC’s budget for 2021/22.

BCLC completed the acquisition process for new lottery terminals and software back in 2017…

…while g a contract with Novomatic Lottery Solutions (NLS).

However, in October 2018, BCLC and NLS agreed to assign the contract to Intralot, which was actually already working on the same project, but as a provider of terminal hardware.

In January 2019, BCLC yet another public acquisition process for Gaming Engine Services and Intralot was the most successful bidder. BCLC will revamp its business by adding new lottery terminals, stand-alone ticket checkers, printers and display units, as well as the related software systems.

New Digital and Operations Officer

At the beginning of April, the company made some fundamental changes in its management team.

Nicklas Zajdel ed the Intralot team as the new chief digital officer…

… coming from GVC Holdings where he worked as omnichannel director of Ladbrokes Coral since December of 2016.

Zajdel will have the task of renewing and enhancing the company’s products and services via a new digital division, as well as being in charge of digital platforms, online operations, sportsbook, and trading.

Besides him, Maria Stergiou, who was already working for the company, has been promoted and now she will become chief operations officer.

As the new COO, she will overlook business operations all over the world and oversee the project management office, as well as look after the company’s relationships with business partners and customers.
