Paddy Power's FanDuel Expands Sports Book Operations in Pennsylvania

FanDuel has commenced sportsbook operations in Valley Forge Casino Resort in the vicinity of Philadelphia on Wednesday, March 13th.

Boyd Gaming’s facility has significantly boosted its offering with sports betting technology provided by Paddy Power Betfair’s subsidiary. This has strengthened the company’s hold on Pennsylvania’s gaming market which suffered a major setback with the delay of online gambling due to DoJ-caused Wire Act uncertainties.

The sportsbook lounge is 1,800 square feet big, it has seven teller windows and 29 video displays. It also boasts a seating area and two sports tickers, with clients placing bets on all major sport events in the US, both collegiate and professional.

FanDuel’s CEO, Matt King, states that opening the sportsbook at Valley Forge Casino Resort is group’s retail sports betting expansion’s beginning, in partnership with Boyd Gaming.

Owing it All to New Jersey Success

King added: “Our experience operating the top sportsbook in New Jersey at the Meadowlands Racetrack will serve us well as we enter Philadelphia and compete for customers in an area with some of the most ionate and knowledgeable sports fans.”

Chief executive of Boyd, Keith Smith, commended FanDuel’s rapid establishment as a leading sports betting brand in New Jersey in less than a year.

Smith said that he looks forward to bringing such a market-leading product to Valley Forge and that he is confident that FanDuel sportsboook will serve “as a powerful draw for new and existing customers throughout the Philadelphia market.”

Good News All Around

FanDuel’s online services in New Jersey’s Meadowlands generated a $7 million revenue in January…

…while Pennsylvania’s sports betting profits in the same month almost doubled from December’s, to over $32 million. FanDuel already operated in Pennsylvania’s fantasy sports market. Their January income in this vertical totaled $998,218.

NBA Action

Late last year brought the contract of the century to FanDuel…

…who inked a multi-year agreement with the National Basketball Association (NBA), becoming the league’s authorized gaming partner.

Under the two parties’ of agreement, New York-based sports betting operator will reboot the contract with InPlay, NBA’s real-time fantasy play.

Association’s head of fantasy and gaming, Scott Kaufman, said: “Together, we have broken new ground in the fantasy world on both the NBA and WNBA, and now with the use of our official NBA betting data, will continue to collaborate on new ways to engage our ionate fans.”
