Sara Slane Recognized for Sports Betting Legalization Efforts

Senior Vice President of the American Gaming Association (AGA), Sara Slane, was named one of the best young talents in sports business.

This senior vice president of public affairs was recognized by the Sports Business Journal and managed to find a spot on the “Forty under 40” list.

The Forty Under 40 Awards is the celebration of the best young talents in the sports business sector that the Sports Business Journal organizes each year.

A Word from an Executive

“Sara played an outsized role in creating the opportunity for legalized sports betting to exist in the United States,” said Bill Miller, AGA’s president and chief executive officer.

“As the industry’s lead advocate, she successfully united the gaming, sports and entertainment industries, brought lawmakers to the table and drove a communication campaign that delivered a historic policy outcome. This recognition is not only well deserved but is shared by stakeholders within and outside our industry,” Miller added.

Who is Sara Slane?

Slane showed massive leadership skills in the initiative that led to the industry’s of the petition to overturn PASPA. Her briefs filed to the Supreme Court were cited twice in the court’s ruling to lift the sports betting ban.

She continues to lead the AGA’s campaign where they educate policymakers, sports stakeholders and the public…

…about all failures of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992, while making the case for regulated sports wagering in the US.

Thanks to Slane, the AGA managed to calculate the economic possibilities that would be enabled by introducing legal sports gambling, not only for states but also for sports leagues and tribal nations.

She is meritorious for convening stakeholders, educating the nation’s lawmakers and ing the growth of this new gambling sector in the US.

AGA Against Wire Act Revision

The US Department of Justice made a strangely sudden decision to revise the 2011 Wire Act and prohibit all sorts of online interstate gambling, with the potential to completely ban online gambling in the country.

AGA clashed in opinion with the Justice Department and was extremely concerned about this. They insisted that states and tribes be still able to offer regulated online gambling.

“We will work with all stakeholders to preserve the ability of states and tribes to regulate gaming, and we encourage [the] DOJ to investigate and shut down illegal, unregulated gambling operators who prey on consumers,” Slane stated.
