Tekken pro, Abhinav Tejan and eFootball rising star, Ibrahim Gulrez lead India at the 15th World Esports Championships

Two of India’s biggest esports stars, Abhinav Tejan and Ibrahim Gulrez, are prepared to participate at the 15th World Esports Championships (WEC), which is being held in Iasi, Romania. Tejan carries the nation’s flag while competing in Tekken 7, while Gulrez will fight for glory in eFootball 2023 for a share of the stunning prize pool worth as much as $500,000!

The two talents represent their country for the 6th time at the prestigious tournament. Tejan begins his journey against Turkmenistan, Egypt, and Colombia, and will later compete against Bulgaria and Turkey. The group stage format is held in the best of 3 format.

This year, Tejan became the winner of the India Premiership 2023 and South Asia Regional Finals, so a lot is expected of him!

Commenting on his preparations and aim for the tournament, Abhinav Tejan stated, “Representing India at the World Esports Championships is always an honor. I have been focusing on studying my opponents, analyzing their gameplay patterns, and finding ways to counter their strategies. The level of competition at the tournament is fierce, and I understand the responsibility on my shoulders as I represent the country. My aim is to showcase the potential of Indian Esports on the international platform by taking home the medal.”

Gulrez, on the other hand, is a rising star of eFootball. He will start the tournament against Kazakhstan, Portugal, and Mali, while the next day he will play against Uruguay and Belgium. The eFootball 2023 is played in the best of 2 format.

More than 100 participants will compete in 16 groups for both the Tekken 7 and eFootball 2023 titles. The top three athletes for each group will continue in the playoffs.

Ibrahim Gulrez said that this is a dream come true. He worked tirelessly to prepare for the tournament and he express his gratitude to ESFI for the and the opportunity to represent India. He also added that his focus is to be mentally and physically prepared for the best players in to try to win.
