William Hill to Provide Retail Sports Betting Services in Michigan

After the historical announcement of partnership with CBS Sports on February 10th, America’s leading sportsbook, William Hill, is ready to expand its sports betting services in Michigan. The operator will provide access to retail and online gaming platforms at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel, as well as Leelanau Sands Casino in Northern Michigan.

This arrangement has been confirmed by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians, a federally recognized Indian tribe. According to the press release, William Hill will be the exclusive provider of online sports betting and online casino gaming throughout the Great Lake State by forming this long-term partnership, which is now pending regulatory approvals.

As a reminder, the state of Michigan signed a legislation in December 2019, allowing it to legalize sports betting and online gaming within its borders.

Location and Launch Date

As stated by Joe Asher, chief executive of William Hill US, the sportsbook will be located in the well-established Onyx Sports Bar at Turtle Creek Casino & Hotel. The bookmaker will also have a satellite location at Leelanau Sands Casino and both venues are expected to open before the 2020 football season. Asher commented the arrangement by saying the following:

“We are pleased to have found a great partner in the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and look forward to working with the Tribe to bring a leading retail and online sports betting experience to sports fans in Michigan. Michigan will be a key state in William Hill’s U.S. expansion due to its large population and deep rooted-sports culture with so many popular college and pro sports teams.”

Michael Shrader, CEO of Grand Traverse Resort & Casinos is equally delighted to team up with leaders in sports betting and online casino industry, who recently signed landmark deals with CBS Sports, NBA, NHL, Scientific Games, Eldorado Resorts and other big names in the industry.

“It was important for us to find a partner with a great sports betting and gaming brand that has proven experience throughout the US market,” said Schrader.

“William Hill’s expertise in sports betting operations and marketing and strategic media partnerships will ensure that we are able to attract customers from throughout the State of Michigan to the online products while offering another great amenity to attract guests to our casinos. We look forward to working with William Hill to develop the best sports book in northern Michigan at Turtle Creek Casino.”

Hill currently operates sportsbooks in Indiana, West Virginia and soaring financial results, mostly due to the country’s increasing online gambling demand. William Hill US is also present in other states, including Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Florida, Nevada and New Jersey.
