Legal dispute between Genting and Wynn Resorts has already been settled, according to the official press release, as both companies tly announced a settlement agreement involving copyright infringement regarding the design of $4 billion RWLV (Resorts World Las Vegas).
Senior vice president of public affairs & development at Genting, Michael Levoff, has issued two statements about the case which took place on Monday, January 28th:
“Genting’s Resorts World Las Vegas project will be the launching point for the next generation of integrated resorts, and the aesthetics of the project will play an important role in its future success. While the company believes the design to have had differences with Wynn and Encore’s once fully realized, after further consideration and conversations with the Wynn team, we have directed our design team to make several changes that will clearly differentiate the two properties.”
Levoff also said:
“This mutually beneficial settlement will allow Genting to continue to develop Resorts World Las Vegas with minimal impact to cost and the overall project timeline.”
Chief communications officer at Wynn Resorts, Michael Weaver, replied:
“Wynn Resorts’ world-renowned signature architecture and design are among the elements that have built our brand’s reputation for excellence. Resorts World Las Vegas’ initial design had elements which had similarity to our resorts in Las Vegas, Macau and Boston. The new design changes offered by Genting will resolve the concerns we expressed about the similarity of the design.”
Weaver also added that the casino hotel company is looking forward to celebrating Resorts World Las Vegas’ grand opening and remains certain that Genting’s future endeavors will benefit both the industry and Las Vegas.
The Nevada Gaming Control Board has also completed its investigation based on the allegations of certain employees who accused founder and former CEO, Steve Wynn, of sexual misconduct.
Phil Satre, newly appointed chairman of the board, has expressed his opinion on the matter by saying the following:
“We have undergone an extensive self-examination over the last 12 months, intended to reinvigorate and implement meaningful change across all levels of the organization, cultivate a safe, healthy and ive workplace culture, and build on our core values of respecting our employees, corporate responsibility and citizenship, and service to the community.”
Satre has also reminded, that the company made changes to its relationship with Steve Wynn and triggered a series of actions to change the infrastructure of its board of directors. He adds:
“In my extensive experience working in the highly-regulated gaming industry I have never seen a company take action that was as swift and comprehensive as the executive team at Wynn Resorts.
Much of that occurred before I ed the Board in August 2018, however I believe our board’s follow-up and reaction to the regulatory investigations has been just as thorough and decisive.”
Under the new leadership of Matt Maddox, CEO, Wynn Resorts has prioritized human resources department, launched Workplace Compliance and Prevention of Sexual Harassment training, and many other measures that , educate and inspire its employees.
